Noobz Presents eLoader 0.995 "Kriek" - Support For Firmware 2.80!

Yes, folks, the day so many of us have long awaited is finally here! Fanjita, Ditlew, and the rest of the Noobz team has released version 0.995 of the fabulous eLoader, bringing support for a huge library of homebrew applications to firmware 2.80!

The new version, dubbed the "Kriek" release, appears to be a bit more stable than version 0.99, though there have been reports that some software that worked on firmwares 2.71 and lower with eLoader 0.99 now does not work. To see for yourself, check out the compatibility list on the PSP Homebrew Database to see if your favorite apps are on the list.

And if being able to run EBOOTs on firmware 2.80 isn't enough for you, there's more! Noobz is also proud to present the xLoader, a program designed specifically for firmware 2.80 to allow you to run homebrew straight from the XMB. Run the program from the xLoader folder in the PHOTO menu just once, and you'll be able to load any properly-formatted homebrew straight from the PSP's GAME menu, until your PSP crashes or goes through a hard reset.

So, what's "properly-formatted" homebrew? It's homebrew that has been patched to work with xLoader. How do you patch your homebrew, you wonder? Well, wonder no longer! The included version of the Install-o-tron has a feature to automatically patch any homebrew that you install with it!

Note that the xLoader is only for 2.80; the team skipped over the lower firmwares because of advancements like 2.71 SE-B'' and Dark_AleX's Homebrew Enabler, as well as to save time.

So far, beta testing has shown that a huge collection of homebrew is compatible with Kriek, including favorites like...

- PSP Revolution (version 0.1)
- PSP Radio (version 38.12 Static)
- PiMP Streamer (version 0.62 for 2.xx)
- gpSP (version 0.8)
- Daedalus (version R8)
- Doom-PSP (version 0.05)
- SuperTux
- FileAssistant++ (version 1.2)
- NesterJ (version 1.11)
- Squarez (version 0.8.1)
- snes9x-TYL (version 0.4.2 with the no-intro fix)
- LuaPlayer (version 0.16)
- KETM (version 0.4)
- Bookr (version 0.7.1)
- Droplets
- PortableVNC
- ThrottleX
- Trigonometry Wars

... and the list just goes on and on!

Below, we've got a video of both eLoader and xLoader in action, showing off PiMPStreamer and Daedalus:

Let's give the Noobz team a huge round of applause for their tireless efforts! For the full scoop, check out Fanjita's own news over at the Noobz team homepage.

Woohoo! Very well done, Noobz! This is extremely good news for you 2.80 users!
Enjoy the world of EBOOT homebrew!

I'd like to more about this firmware "fixer", and how it works.

I've been beta testing this for a while now, and I've got to say, they've really outdone themselves this time. It's a fantastic release.

By the way, please do post the results of any homebrew you test that's not already in the lists on www.psp-homebrew.eu - there's only so much stuff we could test in the beta, I'm sure lots more homebrew works just fine.
